She is recognized as an able & result oriented administrator and strategist who recently retired from the Indian Administrative Service after a distinguished career spanning over 38 years. She is widely recognized for her administrative acumen, ethical leadership, and her ability to navigate high-stakes decision-making with transparency and innovation. Throughout her career, Mrs. Sharma has held pivotal roles at the apex of governance, including: Joined the IAS in 1985 as the first woman officer of the Tripura cadre and served in several senior leadership positions, including Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan; Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India; Director General, Archaeological Survey of India; and senior leadership roles in Tourism, Industries, Urban Development and Handlooms. She was the second woman to hold the prestigious position of Chief Secretary of Government of Rajasthan in the State's history. During her tenure as Chief Secretary, she led the transformation to paperless e-office governance and championed large-scale social-sector initiatives, including the Chiranjeevi health insurance programme. She pioneered transformative initiatives in tourism and handlooms, including the Great India Travel Mart, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, and India's e-Visa programme. She is recognized for people-centric leadership, innovation, institution-building, and delivering large-scale reforms.
