Dr. Sachin B. Sabnis, born on 16th February 1972, is a first-generation entrepreneur and industrialist with over three decades of experience in the engineering and manufacturing sector. He completed his schooling at St. Paul’s High School and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from K.L.E. College of Engineering, Belagavi, Karnataka, in 1993. In 1995, he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by establishing M/s Sai Founders & Engineers at Udyambag, Belagavi, as a small foundry. He promoted M/s Sai Metals, another company in 2001 at Machhe, Belagavi. After gaining valuable hand-on experience in engineering and manufacturing Mr. Sabnis founded Belgaum Ferrocast India Pvt. Ltd. (BFPL) in 2006. As the Managing Director, he has played a pivotal role in the company's growth, technological advancement, customer development and expansion into domestic and international markets. BFPL, at present, has an annual turnover of approximately ₹100 crore, an annual production capacity of around 15,000 MT, and a workforce of more than 600 employees. He has travelled extensively across India and internationally, including the USA, Canada, Germany, France, the UAE and China, for business promotion, technology development and market expansion. Dr. Sabnis has also made significant contributions through his association with various Government institutions and national-level bodies including nomination to Central Board of Trustees, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and to the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (NIAMT), Ranchi. Dr. Sabnis has been actively associated with industry bodies, professional organisations and social institutions. His leadership roles and associations include, All India Vice President; Laghu Udyog Bharati, Member, Advisory Council, Belgaum Foundry Cluster; Member, Managing Committee and Vice President, Belgaum Chamber of Commerce & Industries; Vice Chairman, Belgaum Manufacturers Co-operative Industrial Estate Ltd.; Member, Rotary Club of Belgaum. His contributions to entrepreneurship, technology and social service have earned him several recognitions, including Honorary Doctorate, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), 2023; Entrepreneur of the Year Award, TiE Hubli, 2017–18; Entrepreneur of the Year Award, KLS Institute of Management Education and Research (IMER), Belagavi, 2018; and; “Saraswat Bhushan” Award, GSB Samaj, Mumbai, in recognition of his contribution to social service.
