Consequently, the concerned spectrum assignments stand withdrawn/reverted to the Central Government with immediate effect and RCOM and RTL cease to have any right to use such spectrum. DoT has further directed RCOM and RTL to take all necessary steps to cease and desist from the use and operation of all wireless networks/services based on the spectrum covered under the Letters and to comply with all consequential directions issued by DoT.2026-10-05 DoT, after considering the response submitted by the RCOM Group of Companies dated 07.08.2026 to notices issued by DoT dated 08.07.2026, and in exercise of powers under the applicable Notices Inviting Applications and the terms and conditions governing the assignment of spectrum, has terminated the spectrum assigned to RCOM and RTL pursuant to auctions held in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. DoT has stated that the RCOM Group of Companies failed to comply with applicable terms and conditions, including payment obligations relating to deferred spectrum instalments and other spectrum-related charges, prescribed roll-out obligations, spectrum usage charges and liquidated damages. The Company is evaluating the implications of the said communications/Letters and will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable laws. The communication relates to the spectrum assigned pursuant to auctions conducted in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The termination of the concerned spectrum assignments is with immediate effect from October 5, 2026.The termination of the spectrum assignments will have an impact on the Company, including its resolution plan, as the resolution plan provides for sale of the right to use spectrum as an asset of the Company. The application for approval of the resolution plan is sub-judice before the Hon’ble NCLT, Mumbai Bench. The further financial and operational implications are being examined. The impact is not presently quantifiable in monetary terms.DoT has stated that the Company failed to comply with the applicable terms and conditions of the respective Notices Inviting Applications (“NIAs”), including payment obligations relating to deferred spectrum instalments and other applicable spectrum-related charges. DoT has further stated that, in respect of spectrum acquired through the respective auctions, the Company failed to comply with prescribed roll-out obligations and defaulted in payment of spectrum usage charges and liquidated damages. DoT has terminated with immediate effect the spectrum assigned to Reliance Communications Limited pursuant to auctions conducted in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, as applicable. Consequently, the concerned spectrum assignments stand withdrawn/reverted to the Central Government with immediate effect, and the Company ceases to have any right to use such spectrum. Termination of spectrum assignments with immediate effect. DoT has directed the RCOM Group of Companies to take all necessary steps to cease and desist from the use and operation of all wireless networks/services based on the spectrum covered under the communication and to comply with consequential directions issued by DoT. No suspension, settlement, debarment, disqualification or closure of operations, other than the above-mentioned termination and consequential cessation of use/operation of the concerned spectrum, has been stated.
