Introduction of mini derivative (futures & options) contracts  on S&P CNX Nifty Index

 

National Stock Exchange of Ltd (NSE) will be introducing mini derivative (futures & option) contracts on S&P CNX Nifty Index from January 1, 2008. The mini contract is expected to encourage active participation from retail investors in the derivatives market as the contract is smaller in size.  The Symbol for the mini derivative contract will be MINIFTY.  The contract will be available for one, two & three months.

 

The S&P CNX Nifty Index is the most actively traded index based derivative product in India with more than Rs.15000 Crs daily average volume & lakhs of investors participating in this segment.  The mini contract is now expected to deepen this market further with wider access to much larger participant base.

Market-wide Position Limit in PARSVNATH

 

The derivative contracts in the underlying PARSVNATH has crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit on December 28, 2007. It is hereby informed that all clients/ members shall trade in derivative contracts of  PARSVNATH by offsetting their existing positions till the open interest comes down to 80% of the market wide position limit.

News about Gateway Distriparks Limited

 

The media had reports that  Indian promoters may hike their stake, take management control and may later sell their stake to a strategic player.

 

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

 

Gateway Distriparks Limited has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "We hereby advise that the contents of the report are not based on facts and are speculative in nature. We would also like to clarify further that we have only one Indian Promoter, Mr. Prem Kishan Gupta, who holds around 18% in the equity of Gateway Distriparks Limited in his personal name and in the name of his company, Prism Internnational Private Limited."

The media had reports that Prakash Industries Ltd may raise Rs. 1,000 crore via SPV Prakash Thermal Power.

 

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

 

Prakash Industries Ltd has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "We would like to bring to your notice that the company has signed an MOU with Madhya Pradesh state government for setting up 1000 MW power plant in the state for which the company has already intimated to the Exchange. However we would like to inform that the news has been released by the media based on their assumptions may be from this announcement and not based on any information from the Company."
