The media had reports that the promoters are planning to sell their stake in Fortis Healthcare Limited.

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the company.

Fortis Healthcare Limited has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "We wish to submit that the Board of Directors of the Company has constituted an Issue Committee to evaluate various options available in order to comply with the minimum public shareholding requirement as specified under the Securities Contract (Regulation) Rules, 1957, and Clause 40A of the Equity Listing Agreement. The company is in the process of evaluating various options available under the prevailing regulatory framework. Till date no final decision in this regard has been made and we will keep Stock Exchanges updated on any further material development".
