The media had reports on June 09, 2008 that France based Vicat, Lafarge SA and/or Germany's Heidelberg Cement Ag may buy strategic stake in Sagar Cements Ltd.

 

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

 

Sagar Cements Ltd. has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "Realizing the fundamentals of our company some of the major global players in the industry have been approaching us for a possible tie up and/or equity participation. However, no decision has been taken in this regard till now. Further, as part of grabbing opportunities available globally, the company proposes to expand its operations beyond the country, though no firm decision has been taken in this regard."
