News about Essar Oil Limited

 

The media had reports on April 07, 2009 that Essar Oil Limited may delist its securities. Further, it may take over 50% of the management control of KRPL refinery in Mombasa.

 

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

 

Essar Oil Limited has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "There is currently no proposal under consideration for delisting of equity shares of the company from the Stock Exchanges. Regarding acquisition of 50% equity in Kenya Petroleum Refinery Ltd. (KRPL) as informed vide our letter dated 15th January, 2008 regarding entering into an agreement to acquire 50% stake in KRPL subject to certain conditions, we would like to clarify that discussions are still going on with Authorities of Kenya Government to obtain their approval for the above transaction."
