News about Goa Carbon Limited

 

The media had reports on August 02, 2008 that Goa Carbon Ltd is planning to invest Rs 700 Crores for setting up a Calcium Petroleum Coke (CPC) manufacturing plant and towards co-power generator.  Further to this the company may hive off its mining business into a separate entity.

 

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

 

Goa Carbon Ltd has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "At an analysts' meet, our Chairman referred that the company is reviewing and carrying on Techno-feasibility Report for Brown Field and Green Field expansions by venturing into co-power generation at its three plants costing about Rs.200 crores and also, carrying on a Techno feasibility study to set up new CPC plant either in Orissa/Gujarat, which would cost around Rs.500 Crores. It was clearly mentioned that the company is reviewing these new projects and has not taken any final decision. Secondly, on a query about mining business of the Group, Chairman clarified that the group flagship company namely V.S.Dempo & Co.Pvt.Ltd carries on business of mining."
