News about Balrampur Chini Mills
Limited
The
media had reports that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has begun prosecuting
directors of Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd for not complying with the accounting
standards.
The
Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information
reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of
the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.
Balrampur
Chini Mills Ltd has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "The Department of
Corporate Affairs has inspected the Books of Accounts, records and other papers
of the Company under section 209A of the Companies Act, 1956. Some minor
violations including that of the Accounting Standards/ regrouping/
rearrangement of previous year's figures have been pointed out by the
Department in the Inspection report. Accordingly, Show Cause Notices were
issued by the department. Thereafter, the Company compounded all these offenses
before the Company Law Board and the Regional Director. The matter has been disposed of. The news
item in the said media on fudging of accounts is without substance, false and
misleading."
